The General Accountant role plays an integral role in assisting the Controller with payroll, monthly financial reporting cycle, ledger maintenance, over-sight for invoicing and processing of payments.
This position reports directly to the controller. You are responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and reconciling transactions in accordance with US GAAP. In addition, you will assist in producing semi-monthly payroll for the company, preparing requested financial reports for management and board, guiding junior staff members in the department.
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Monday to Friday
Your primary job duties are:
- Maintaining the General Ledgers for multiple units
- Assist the Financial Controller to conduct monthly closing and prepare reports
- Reconcile Bank Statements
- Prepare Documents for Auditing
- Complete Journal Entries and necessary calculations
- Oversee Invoicing and collections for intercompany transactions
- Prepare Vendor reconciliation, assisting the AP team as required
- Track and communicate Key Performance Indicators
- Prepare and execute semi-monthly payroll using ADP Software
- Coordinate with ADP and HR to resolve payroll related issues
- Process Payments including suppliers, Interco transfers, payroll and other statutory payments
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- 3 + years accounting experience, preferably in a corporate setting
- CPA designation is an asset or must enroll in the CPA program
- Experience with AR/AP processes in a mid-size organization
- Demonstrated skill with payroll processing, ADP experience and asset
- Advanced Excel Skills and an aptitude/desire to learn more
- Good analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a strong customer focus
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and effectively handle changing priorities
