Job Description Senior Accountant Career OpportunityThe Dufresne Group is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our Accounting Team within our Home Office located at 147 Commerce Drive in Winnipeg, MB .As a Senior Accountant you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of Company financials; ensuring that all revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items are recorded appropriately; and performing analysis on results as compared to budget and prior periods.The Dufresne Group is committed to investing in our team members; we offer:Market competitive wages;Comprehensive benefits plan and excellent employee discounts;Employer Sponsored Retirement Savings Plan;Career growth and continuous development;Respectful and family-oriented working environment with strong company values.As the Senior Accountant, you will:Plan for, and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including the year-end audit and the preparation of internal financial statements.Analyze operating results against budget and prior periods and provide the business units with insights and recommendations to improve their financial performance and decision-making.Prepare monthly financial summaries, operational reports, and other ad hoc reports for management.Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and related sub-ledgers to ensure accurate records.Prepare to adjust journal entries for accruals, prepaid, fixed asset depreciation, etc.Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and systems of internal controls.Complete regulatory and other required external reporting to financial institutions, landlords and others as required within designated timelines.Remain current on new accounting issues/guidance to ensure compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)Mentor, train, and motivate the accounting team to deliver a high level of performance.Collaborate with the other Senior Accountants to support overall department goals and objectives.Assist in developing and overseeing the department's performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs.)Identify and action opportunities to improve department processes, productivity and systems, and lead project work as assigned.As a successful candidate you will have the following:Professional accounting designation with 3 – 5 years of related accounting experience.Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Proficient in Microsoft Office products, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to learn in-house computer programs.Combination of education and experience will be considered.Ability to work both independently and as part of the accounting team to ensure the company's financial objectives are metStrong financial reporting and analytical skills, a high degree of accuracy, maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and attention to detail.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.A satisfactory Criminal Record Check may be required.About us:The Dufresne Group welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
