Job Description
Purpose: to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and oversee daily transaction processing by the Accounting Department, support Controller and Legacy SCS Facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- College Diploma
- University Degree an Asset
- Accounting Designation (current or working towards)
- Experience in working with various types of accounting software
Essential Qualifications
- Minimums of 2 years working in a Junior Accountant role with exposure to both Canada and USA business environments
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the management of financial systems, reporting, end data analysis
- Strong time management, superior planning skills
- Detail oriented and results driven
- Proactive problem solver who identifies and responds to issues and seeks the optimal resolution
- Team Player that effectively communicates with organization, as well outside contacts
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Knowledge of experience of related computer applications
- Planning and organizing
- Information and task monitoring
- Customer Service Oriented
Duties/Responsibilities
- Process daily accounts payable transactions
- Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements
- Budgeting, forecasting and interim reporting
- Assist with month end closing process
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Performs internal audits of accounts payable, payroll distribution, fixed assets, and cash. May make correcting journal entries in assigned areas
- Prepare ad hoc analysis
- Assist in the support to outside auditors and governmental program auditors
- Assist other members of Accounting Department with the day to day operations
- Document business and administration processes for the Legacy SCS Group
- Support Controller and Legacy SCS Accounting as well as operating facilities
