Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Controlling:
- Review incurrence of expenditure (Purchase requests, contracts) to ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls. Review cost classification (Capex/Opex) for all transactions.
- Lead the development of annual budget, quarterly forecasts and Strat Plan with the support of Site PMF.
- Validate financial information included in monthly cost sheets of major projects and information for the steering committees. Reconcile for consistency with SAP. Challenge assumptions.
- Spend & variance analysis for project spend as required and act as main contact for global requests for area of focus.
- Coordinate to improve the financial processes under his/her responsibility within the finance team and Project team (robustness, simplification, harmonization of project control).
- Create Internal Orders and assign budgets to monitor/report costs for individual phases of the projects.
Business Partnering:
- Provide business partnering to the relevant areas in a manner to develop teamwork and to successfully achieve business targets. Be the key finance contact of the project team.
- Ensure Project team is trained on compliance with financial policies & procedures.
Financial Accounting:
- Review and enter month end entries in SAP including accruals/reclasses provided by Project teams along with testing of supporting documentation.
- Calculate interest and staff costs to be charged to projects. Calculate FTE rates at the time of budget.
- Enter/Upload actual expenditure in Shine as well as CRT and ensure all tools are aligned.
- Process Closing Notices to ensure accurate capitalization of assets when the capital projects are finished.
- Monthly reporting for key cost drivers; headcount, overtime & expenses.
Financial Analysis:
- Perform financial analysis of all Strat projects (NPV, Payback) and update those calculations based on latest assumptions as and when required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA).
- Minimum four (4) years of previous relevant experience in an industrial or construction environment with focus in Finance and project spending or related field.
- Good knowledge of IFRS reporting rules for interface with financial reporting teams.
- Basic knowledge of industrial controlling methods (variance analysis, cost of goods calculation).
- Demonstrated ability to challenge, influence, advise and advocate in a constructive manner.
- Ability to lead transversal activities.
- Project management skills.
- Proficient computer skills: ERP (SAP) systems, standard MS suite tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database programs, internet applications and interfaces to internal systems.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months
Pay: Up to $50.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

- North York, ON M2R 3T4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- industrial or construction industry: 4 years (preferred)
- SAP: 4 years (preferred)
