We are hiring Project Cost Analyst for our client in York, ON (Hamilton area).

Our client is Railroad Construction & Maintenance leader in the rail industry with over 40 years of experience and spanning three generations.
Working Conditions
The job is only from the company’s office. There is no option to work hybrid or remotely.
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm or 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Full-Time, Permanent Position.
Company location: Hamilton, ON
Compensation
- $70,000 to $75,000, depending on education and experience.
- 2-3 weeks vacation.
About the role
The Project Cost Analyst is responsible for comprehensive oversight of the projects, including planning and cost control activities. This role reports to the Controller, and the candidate will be e responsible for conducting pricing analysis, optimizing pricing strategies, monitoring production costs, and understanding technical drawings to provide cost estimating. This is an excellent opportunity for technically proficient individuals to expand their leadership skills and be eager to learn and grow with the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project progress reporting to include the status of committed costs against approved budgets, including all financial and earned value reporting by contract and business requirements.
- Creating effective financial data analysis and risk assessment for projects
- Monitor labour cost.
- Coordinate Time & Material billings, reviewing rates and mark-ups.
- Ensure the project set up/structure supports the billing requirements, billing line set up as required.
- Supports Operations team with decision making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
- Run and review productivity report.
- Generate accurate and timely draft billing for customer approval, post approved invoices, and collect overdue invoices.
- Verifying, challenging, and confirming charges to the project from contractors and vendors
- Assist with tender packages & submittals.
- Project Invoicing – unit pricing, cost to complete, fixed price.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports for management as requested.
- General accounting & reconciliation functions.
About you
- You have proven 2+ years experience in finance, accounting, or analysis orientated role
- You are proficient in Sage accounting software.
- You completed or working towards CMA designation
- You have bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- You are detail-oriented, organized, and have effective time management.
- You have ability to work well in a team environment or independently
- You are advanced in MS Office (particularly Excel).
- You are a good problem solver and communicator.
- You have strong attention to details
- You are accountable and always keep track of follow-ups or commitments.
