Administrative Assistant
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world seeks an Administrative Assistant for our Ottawa office. ALPA represents more than 74,000 pilots at 42 airlines in Canada and the United States. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting all aspects of running an outbased office. They assist the Ottawa Office Supervisor in performing the role of liaison with ALPA members, various government and non-government agencies, airlines, and ALPA National. They follow priorities in accordance with administrative needs and develop a complete understanding of the role and purpose of the Association and responsibilities of the Ottawa office.
Travel required: 2 – 5%.

Minimum Requirements:
- Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or Diplôme d'Études Secondaires (DES), or equivalen,t plus two years in a college or business school, or equivalent experience.
- Two (2) years related experience in an administrative position with preference given to prior experience in the aviation industry, either in the private sector or the government.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including editing and writing skills. Bilingual French-English language skills strongly preferred.
- Understanding of the role and purpose of the Association and responsibilities of the Ottawa office.
- Proficiency on personal computers and related software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools.
- Ability to establish and follow procedures and work independently.

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and the local metropolitan area. May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.
Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). Sporadically and/or while on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage and/or boxes weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
