About us
The Central Peace Health Centre is a community-based medical clinic in Spirit River, Alberta consisting of four family physicians (who also split their time and energy between emergency, hospital inpatients, long-term care, and other professional duties). Our work is patient-centric, fast-paced, and rewarding. Our goal is to provide comprehensive primary health care services including health promotion, illness and injury prevention, and the diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury. We also offer enhanced services in mental health counselling and chronic disease management.

Medical Office Assistant
Duties:
- Answer and direct phone calls, taking messages as necessary
- Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar
- Greet and check-in patients, verifying their information and insurance details
- Assist with patient registration and intake forms
- Maintain patient records and update electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow-up appointments
- Process billing and insurance claims
- Handle medical records requests in compliance with health information regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in using phone systems, including transferring calls and taking accurate messages
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Proficient in using computers and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Customer service-oriented with a friendly and professional demeanor
Note: Previous experience working in a medical setting is a plus.
