Job Description
Medical Office Assistant required in a general surgery specialist office located in Comox BC.
Looking for a bright and shiny personality to join our medical practice! You will be working alongside Dr. Connal Roberson-More and in liasion with other members of the Comox Valley General Surgery group to provide outstanding patient care. A team player with a positive attitude is a must.
- Regular administrative and reception duties: registers patients, answers telephone, general correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports, medical billings, data entry and word processing.
- Schedules and confirms client appointments.
- Maintains office supplies.
- Clinical support – escorting to examination/treatment room and ensuring appropriate supplies are setup; attends sensitive examination procedures and treatments; routine measurements – weight, BMI calculations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant Certificate Program from an accredited Community College Required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Works well in a team environment, as well as independently.
- Provides exemplary patient care at all times across all settings (telephone, in person, e-mail) with the ability to talk to patients in an understanding and caring manner.
- Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize changing workloads and schedule variances.
- Outstanding organizational and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven efficiency and ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to type at 50wpm.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer word processing, spreadsheet applications, and specialized clinical information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize and understand Medical Terminology.
- Previous experience working at a medical office is an asset.
- Knowledge of EMRs: Plexia considered an asset.
