PLEASE NOTE: This posting is for a Medical Office Assistant with a Primary Care Physician's Office located in Central London.
We are a well-established family practice with a caring team, providing comprehensive primary health care to over 3000 patients. We work as part of a multidisciplinary care team, with the Thames Valley Family Health Team.
The Medical Office Assistant provides support to the routine operations of the medical office. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating patient care such as scheduling appointments, referrals, billing, and ordering office supplies. There is some expectation to also cross-train with other staff to allow for flexibility with cross-coverage is necessary, including for the ability to provide direct patient care in office when required, such as rooming patients and taking vital signs, as well as sterilizing office equipment. We require some flexibility for evening and weekend coverage to support our team when holiday coverage is necessary.
Requirements:
- Post Secondary school diploma or education in medical office or business administration
- Administrative experience within a healthcare setting
- Proficient computer skills, including internet research skills and experience working with an EMR, with knowledge of PS Suites and OCEAN preferred or demonstrated comfort with new computer systems
Skills/Abilities:
- An understanding of the Ministry of Health & Family Health Team philosophy
- Ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitivity, creativity, innovation, cultural understanding, and non-judgement
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with a team
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and integrity
- Experience using VoIP telephone and fax systems
- Ability to coordinate and communicate information and documentation for various meetings and events, as well as minute-taking skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to anticipate and respond to the administrative needs of the health care team

Job Type: Full-time at 36 hours per week but with the flexibility to increase to 40 hours in the week when needed for office demand.
Salary: $17.50-$22 per hour. Hourly rate is dependant on experience.
