Job Description
We are looking for an Employee Benefits Specialist for our Toronto-based boutique benefits practice. We have access to office and boardroom space atop the Yonge/Lawrence subway but have decided to move to a mostly virtual model with perhaps 2/3 in-person (Toronto or GTA "Team" meetings) as required. It's a very casual/relaxed environment.
WHO You Are? You are "EXTREMELY PROFICIENT" in Excel and are knowledgeable in Word/PP/MS Outlook. You are a self-starter who takes direction well but also questions and validates that direction. As a benefits specialist, you will NEED *5 years* of specific group insurance experience.
Thank you for your interest, but at this time, we are not recruiting candidates whose background is another career specialty ie HR Generalists. Also not being considered at this time are those who have changed jobs in the last year. A written employee benefit screening will be required prior to the granting of any interviews.
The successful candidate will be challenged with everything from benefit plan marketings, to client servicing, group benefit renewals, and everything in between. Working independently is a privilege, the successful candidate will have a history of working independently or will be a proven goal setter, accustomed to logging work activities in a CRM system like Zoho or Salesforce.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analysis of benefits program, including design and funding reviews.
- Preparation of specifications and marketing reports (if a review of alternative markets is deemed appropriate).
- Analysis of Insurance Carrier proposals, including any necessary discussions with Providers to obtain clarification and/or additional information.

Extras:
A comprehensive compensation package, including an above-average base salary, group benefits, a performance bonus, a flexible virtual work model, and finally, continuing education opportunities with Insurers/Suppliers in the form of webinars/events, etc.
