Job Description
Reporting to Clinical Pharmacist Team Lead, the Clinical Pharmacist is primarily responsible for key drug benefit management services including Formulary Management, Special Authorization, Drug Utilization Review and Client Education (e.g. webinars on provincial drug programs). In addition, the Clinical Pharmacist will also provide support to the Sales and Client Service departments through a variety of activities which includes responding to client-specific inquiries involving drug coverage and claims analysis.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Manage all tasks related to the maintenance of managed formularies to ensure service level agreement is met on a monthly basis. This includes new drug evaluations and special authorization criteria development.
- In collaboration with the Team Lead of Operations, ensure all tasks related to the day-to-day Special Authorization service are meeting service level expectations. This includes reviewing Special Authorization application evaluated by Clinical Coordinators.
- Review and update regularly internal process documents.
- Update knowledge base of provincial drugs programs to enhance coordination process with government programs for high-cost drugs.
- Provide supporting clinical expertise to clients by performing therapeutic cost-effective analysis, impact analysis and drug utilization reviews.
- Provide support to the ClaimSecure internal and external education initiatives e.g., developing presentations for provincial drug webinars and new drug reviews
- Maintain high standards of professional practice by adhering to the ethics of the profession and keeping abreast of the latest professional advances.
- Assist the Clinical Pharmacist Team Lead and the Clinical Services Manager in new product and process development.
- Participate as a contributor in business or system projects.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- University Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm D. Degree
- Currently in good standing with Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Strong Clinical Background
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience in community/retail or hospital settings
- Experience working with pharmacoeconomic models and conducting cost-effectiveness analyses would be an asset
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong computer skills and knowledge, including MS Office (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Bilingualism (English / French) would be an asset
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 15 months
Salary: $86,000.00-$91,000.00 per year
