Position Overview:
Oshkee Meekena and Oshka Teesuk Neehgan Residential Treatment Centre is an eight-bed residential substance abuse treatment program. Youth who have been experiencing difficulties with substance abuse and willing to receive treatment for their addiction are the residents. For youth who are in need of care and treatment, a structured living environment is provided. The counsellor is to provide the support and counselling and care of these clients as well for their safety, health and well-being. It will be their responsibility to promote the best interest of the child and to provide for their protection. The Clinical Counsellor is employed by Tikinagan and is under the immediate supervision of the Service Manager of Oshkee Meekena and Oshka Teesuk Neehgan Healing Centre programs.Qualifications Desired:

- Degree or Diploma in Social Work and/or combination of equivalent training & experience.
- Be aware of the cultural environment and be able to communicate in one of the Tikinagan Child and Family Services catchment area dialects.
- Ability to communicate in Ojibway/Ojicree is a definite asset.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have a valid Ontario driver's license
- Must provide a criminal record check
- Must be willing and able to travel
- Computer training and experience is an asset.
- Thorough understanding of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
- Knowledge of Foster Care Licensing regulations is an asset.
All successful applicants will require an application for, or a current, Criminal Record Check(CRC). A Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) for those positions working with children will also be required. As such, it is recommended that applicants apply for a CRC & VSC as soon as possible.
