Engineers and Geoscientists BC is currently searching for a Web Communications Officer to join our team in Burnaby!
The Web Communications Officer manages and maintains (front-end) a dynamic website for our organization. This position is also responsible for executing other web-focused communications products and programs and providing general communications support.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Maintains the organization’s public website to meet business needs, including implementing changes to content, appearance, layout, and flow of the website; works collaboratively with internal partners and our Information Systems department to develop and enhance website architecture and user experience,
- Works with departmental manager to ensure the website continues to evolve to meet communications needs and reflects the organization’s strategic plan; assists with planning for short- and long-term enhancements and upgrades to the website,
- Reviews, edits, and publishes website content received from staff in keeping with corporate policies, standards, and processes; applies communication strategies within the web framework and acts as a resource to staff regarding the publishing process; provides training and support to staff as needed,
- Coordinates the organization’s email campaigns, including scheduling, reviewing, editing, and deploying emails; works collaboratively with the Information Systems department and external service providers to resolve technical issues,
- Where required, supports survey development for the organization, including reviewing, editing, and formatting surveys; provides survey data to program managers and assists with analysis as needed,
- Supports the organization’s Employment Centre, including providing guidance to the staff member who oversees the online job postings; prepares and sends out the weekly Career Listings email to Engineers and Geoscientists BC registrants, and supports this program’s transition to a future advocacy body,
- Provides assistance to general web-based communication projects and programs, as required,
- Provides support to other communications programs including assisting with the Annual Conference and AGM, or similar events,
- If required, travel that includes multi-day, overnight trips, and day travel within the Lower Mainland,
- Other duties as assigned by management.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred,
- 2-5 years experience in digital communications, web design and architecture, and graphic design and layout,
- 2-5 years experience in website content management using a Content Management System,
- 2-5 years experience in web-focused communications (editing and content development),
- 2-5 years experience in bulk email distribution using email distribution software/system,
- Strong written communication and editing skills,
- Strong technical skills, familiarity with web-based tools and programs; HTML and CSS knowledge is an asset,
- Experience with graphic design and editing programs, ideally Adobe Creative Suite.
