Ensures the website meets accessibility standards under the AODA and WCAG; maintains and improves the website's usability; coordinates, audits and posts content on the website and other digital channels through the use of a content management system; supports the projects relating to improving user experience and/or redesigning website; and designs, writes and edits copy for the Toronto Transit Commission's website ttc.ca, its micro-sites and other digital channels.- Update and maintain content on the TTC website, micro-sites and other digital channels.
- Ensure site templates, content, images and documents are accessible as per WCAG standards and guidelines.
- Organize and maintain the website content infrastructure, ensure site(s) are optimized for organic search, and optimize and establish standards for content, images, and documents posted on the web.
- Assist with research and identify or develop new digital products, platforms, tools and processes to enhance current services or to deliver new services.
- Ensure consistency in content across all digital content management systems and alignment with multi-channel campaigns.
- Liaise with content contributors and core program managers to ensure accurate and web-appropriate content is published.
- Write, edit and post digital content for the website/other digital channels, and support the development and execution of a digital communications strategy.
- Critically analyze content and make creative and sound recommendations to improve usability, user experience and accessibility, and assist with development and implementation of operational processes for ongoing content and accessibility/usability maintenance.
- Work with cross-departmental teams, and maintain/develop the master content calendar for all digital channels.
- Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. - Several years of directly related experience in using content management systems, editing and writing.
- Experience using Sitecore content management system is preferred. Experience in web design, graphic design and/or web development is an asset. In addition to HTML, XHTML and CSS, knowledge of other front-end technologies such as JavaScript are an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience posting and managing digital content through the use of web content management systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience meeting the standards set out in the AODA and WCAG.
- Experience writing and editing content for the web with specific attention to usability and accessibility requirements.
- Experience coordinating content from multiple content contributors in alignment with content strategy.
- Experience using image editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
- Knowledge of and experience making pdfs, images and other digital documents accessible according to WCAG.
- Experience using Google Analytics or comparable analytic systems/software to monitor website performance and produce reports.
- Must have or develop a good knowledge of Department and TTC policies and procedures applicable to the work, including knowledge of AODA Legislation and W3C standards and guidelines.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
