Our team of 700+ staff see clients virtually and physically from our downtown Toronto and Oakville clinics.The Role:The Communications Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and is a critical role for an experienced and dynamic marketer within a growing Marketing team at Medcan. As part of the Go-to-Market team, the position is focused on building and executing successful communications with a focus on PR and Executive support, community outreach as well as delivering programs for our internal stakeholders.As an experienced writer, you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to create content that compels an audience to act, but can just as easily dig into KPIs to ensure programs and campaigns truly deliver. You know how to be a steward of a brand and its voice, but you are also skilled at understanding the requests of internal stakeholders and translating them into clear marketing objectives and plans.You partner well with a diverse group of internal stakeholders, helping them deliver results quarter-by-quarter, while balancing the need to play the long game. And you enjoy working in a fast-paced, changing environment at a continuously evolving company, with the opportunity to help define success and how to get there.The Accountabilities:Provide exceptional support to Senior Executives with writing of speaking notes, speeches, presentation materials, ad-hoc writing requests and communications supportLead our earned media strategy, supporting the marketing team to identify, manage, and execute opportunities that support go-to-market campaigns and initiatives.Manage internal employee communications, including supporting cross-functional teams to develop, review, manage and execute company-wide communications, meetings and experiences such as quarterly townhallsContribute to and help manage Medcan’s corporate communications channels such as internal news, digital signage, intranet.Develop and manage an annual editorial calendar for customer newsletters, soliciting input from stakeholders to inform contentOversee and own the end-to-end production, including writing and stakeholder review cycles for our monthly customer newsletter(s)Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels in the organization, and external partners such as agencies, associations, and PR firmsManage, track, and measure all Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities including Medcan’s involvement with charitable initiatives, sponsorship, and community eventsMeasure and report on the impact of communication strategy, channel effectiveness and tacticsThe nature of the role requires that a successful candidate has the following desired attributes:Excellent written and verbal communication – takes pride in writing clear, engaging and concise communications for diverse audiences including Executives, Employees, and PR.Intuitive – asks great questions and uncovers client pain points quicklySelf-starter – thinks several steps ahead, anticipates potential outcomes and makes things happen with limited directionProfessional – able to work respectfully and professionally with stakeholders at all levels within the organization including both clinical and business teamsHighly Organized – ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, acting with a sense of urgency and maintaining clear and concise documentation of projects, and status updatesPragmatic - focuses on business and revenue impactTakes pride in producing communications and creative that is impactful and breaks through to capture audience attentionFull of positive energy and unstoppable in the face of obstacles, a resourceful problem-solverThe Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in business communications, journalism, or other relevant area of studyAt least 5 – 7 years progressive experience in communications, with a focus on marketing communications – health & wellbeing and/or employee benefits industry experience is an asset.Proven track record of building relationships and supporting 3-5 Executives with best-in-class communicationsExperience working with media to manage and strengthen brand reputation, pitching stories, and proactively identifying earned media opportunitiesDemonstrated effective stewardship and governance of CSR initiatives that deliver on business objectives is an assetAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookA highly collaborative individual that combines a strategic mindset with a hands-on approachThis is a full-time role that is scheduled during business hours Monday through Friday.
