The incumbent maintains site standards, updates and develops site content and further develop pages and sites using the University content management system. The focus is to ensure that the site’s information architecture always supports the OVPRI’s strategic objectives while at the same time responds to clients’ needs.
The incumbent is the expert for all Web related projects of the OVPRI. Works independently or as part of a team and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders on campus; prioritizes multiple projects.In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic planning: Participates actively in the creation and management of Web projects and ensures they are integrated into the OVPRI’s strategic marketing and communications plan. The incumbent provides expert Web-related advice in the broader context of promoting the OVPRI and its activities.
- Web content development: Participates actively in establishing, maintaining and optimizing the OVPRI’s Web presence. Advises and offers support to multiple contributors to the website (primarily to the Communications and Marketing, Research and Innovation team and the OVPRI’s services).
- Web content creation: Writes, translates, reviews, and/or approves Web content in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing, Research and Innovation team, to meet the strategic objectives of the OVPRI. Ensures the accuracy, completeness, consistency and integrity of the information and recommends or adjusts the data or structure of the information accordingly.
- Web content management: Plans, designs and enhances content and website updates. Determines content and maintains associated systems for internal and external websites. Provides support to the OVPRI social media accounts.
What you will bring:- Bachelor degree in Communications or in Web design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and 5 years of experience
- Experience in the development, organization, writing and editing of content for websites
- Knowledge of Web design and development using various technologies, programming languages and operating systems
- Experience with common content management systems (i.e. Drupal) and knowledge of HTML environment
- Knowledge of and experience with applying the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act(AODA) related to the Web (WCAG 2.0)
- Minimum of three years of content management experience in producing high-traffic websites
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Knowledge of established University standards and priorities related to Web-based tool design and implementation
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques and best practices of a secure Web environment
- Expertise in Web metrics, analysis and user trends
- Experience with graphic and image processing software
- Experience with managing social media accounts for an organization
- Experience in Web project management, identifying client needs and defining technical requirements
- Experience working in a customer service-based environment
- Ability to learn new Web tools and adapt to new technologies
- Ability to develop and deliver Web-related training
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Bilingual – French and English (written and spoken)
