Position: Specialist, Creative Content
Reports to: Manager, Marketing Communications

Job Purpose:
World Vision Canada’s digital product team focuses on delivering the right message to the right audience with the right solution at the right time. Following a disciplined Agile Scrum approach, dedicated agile teams focused on specific market segments operate in rapid test and learn cycles obsessed with delivering supporter value and driving efficient revenue growth and long-term supporter value.
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing Communications, the Creative Content Specialist embodies the voice and tone of the audience of the emergency response product while upholding World Vision Canada’s brand narrative through use of creative content. S/he *is responsible for fostering a trusting relationship with the target audience and advocating for the world’s most vulnerable children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Executing Creative Content
- Curates and adapts content for the assigned product team.
- Executes coherent, credible and compelling documents that advance the organizations highest priorities and aspirations.
- Leads management of web content, including Our Work section of worldvision.ca
- Leads content development for a variety of projects and initiatives including World Vision Canada’s Annual Results Report and related materials.
- Owns writing flow, readability, sentence variety and structure, specific to their target audience.
- Determines how much writing is done by the Creative Content Specialist(~80%) and how much is leveraged from internal subject matter experts (~20%).
- Engages internal subject matter experts as needed.
- Coaches subject matter experts to ensure alignment with Scrum team’s shared vision on supporter value.
- Supports the creative briefing process.
- Collaborates with the content platform product team in the ideation and creation of content.
- Active participant in Writers & Content Creators Community of Practice which collaborates regularly, shares information, improves skills and actively works on advancing shared knowledge of communications.
Envisioning Effective Strategy
- Guides the creative strategy and leads the creative execution for target audience’s journey.
- Leads highest value creative for assigned target audience.
- Imagines how a fulfilling relationship between trusted brand and faithful supporter will function.
- Stays current on topics and issues that matter to their target audience, providing feedback to Scrum team where relevant and adapting the creative content approach as needed.
- Implements test and learn cycles using data and insight, aiming to be as close to the supporters’ needs and desires as possible.
- Stewards supporters through use of creative content and effective communication, including but not limited to: web, social media, video, audio, events, and offerings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ marketing communications experience; ideally with an international NGO and/or a Christian faith-based organization.
- Strong understanding of international humanitarian and development work with demonstrated experience understanding the context of global issues.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding ability to write creative content to a variety of demographics and audiences.
- Ability to produce content for various media.
- Knowledge, skills and experience managing web content and the ability to update content when needed.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) writing experience an asset.
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, proofreading and creative skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and pivot quickly.
- Experience working in an Agile team environment an asset.
