Job Description
Reporting to the Ancillary Services Manager and utilizing a service excellence approach, this position assists the Bookstore Coordinator with the day-to-day operations of the bookstore, including assisting with all textbook returns; inventory control; display merchandising; clerical and cashier duties; balancing cash and preparing revenue/bank deposits; responding to requests for assistance from students, staff and members of the public. Working closely with the Bookstore Coordinator, this position coordinates the activities of the Bookstore Support Clerks.

Assists the Bookstore Coordinator with the workload of bookstore staff by:
- Performing daily opening/closing, service counter and telephone tasks;
- Packing and shipping orders;
- Creates displays for all merchandise on the Castlegar campus and provides direction on merchandise displays for all campuses; and
- Provides training as required.
Assists the Bookstore Coordinator with textbook and stock needs for all Selkirk College campuses, including:
- Processing customer's special orders and returns;
- Creating purchase requests for purchase orders;
- Placing orders for textbooks, stationery, gift, and confectionary with approved vendors.
- Track, order and remit documentation for bus passes.
- Monitoring and maintaining inventories for all campuses;
- Resolving invoice discrepancies, damaged-in-freight and other return issues with shippers and suppliers.
- Verifying and ensuring accurate, competitive pricing;
- Maintaining stock control records, including inventories and request orders for items as necessary;
- Working with Marketing and other departments and schools to produce swag and clothing for resale, ensuring internal procedures and guidelines are followed as set by the Manager and Coordinator;
- Responding to in-store requests for assistance from staff, students and members of the public;
- Assisting with the coordination of periodic inventory counts;
- Ensuring proper purchasing and receiving procedures are followed, including related college policies; and
- Maintaining bookstore bookkeeping records, such as sales reports, in-stock invoices and receiving reports.
- Communicate and develop relationships with new vendors to introduce new product lines;
Performs clerical and cashier functions, including:
- Entering Sponsored Students into the system;
- Providing information and direction to customers;
- Coordinating cash and sales functions; balancing cash and preparing revenue/bank deposits; preparing month-end revenue reports;
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or communicated by the Bookstore Coordinator.

- Good physical condition, as heavy lifting (up to 30 pounds) is required on a day-to-day basis
Education and Experience
- High school graduation
- 2-year Business Administration Diploma
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- Valid BC Driver's License
This is a regular, full-time (100%) position commencing as soon as possible. The salary will be Pay Grade 7 - $28.02 per hour - in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.
