Job Description
Assists with customer service and administrative focus with invoicing, approving invoices, shipment/pickup planning with onsite customer visits as needed. It will also be overseeing the environmental and financial performance of Total Waste and Resource Programs at client locations. Responsibilities focus on the proper day to day overview of all hazardous and non-hazardous solid wastes at client locations as well as in-plant industrial services. Major emphasis on the creation of cost-saving through the elimination, reduction and recycling of waste and administration of these programs at customer location.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies governing the proper management of solid and hazardous waste
- Identifies and characterizes wastes
- Prepares containers for proper TDG shipment
- Prepares and signs shipping paperwork including manifests for all shipments of waste
- Coordinates scheduling and pickup of waste within Veolia and with third party providers
- Coordinates the procurement of necessary waste containers
- Communicates with clients, subcontractors and supervisors, any changes or discrepancies in contract and/or subcontract requirements
- Ensures that contract and/or subcontract requirements are being met and/or exceeded
- Analyzes financial performance of contracts
- Coordinates Client “in-plant” waste management systems
- Samples and prepares waste material samples for analysis
- Tracks manifests returned in 35 days, matches documents, and maintains files
- Monitor activities, track waste and cost data and prepare comprehensive reports including: providing data to customer tracking database as required by client
- Provide/Analyze baseline reconciliation as required per contract or more often if needed to manage discrepancies
- Assist with preparation of annual budget
- Develop and implement plans and projects focusing on the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste generated by manufacturing, pollution control and maintenance operations
- Oversee inspections and calibrations
- assist in waste audits/inspections
- Support management systems & deliverables focusing on federal and local regulatory compliance standards as well as the plant's Environmental Management policies and procedures dealing with the proper management of waste and the prevention of pollution
- Oversee work conduced by subcontractors to support site operations
- Completing log and work order reports using electronic communications
- Recommending the purchase of goods and equipment
- Communicating changes in site conditions that would introduce new hazards or increased risk at a site
- Demonstrating advanced understanding of safety including consistent identification of hazards, implementing risk abatement strategies and where necessary, selection of personal protective equipment
- Responding to emergency calls and be available during duty periods
- Contributing towards achieving desired Quality Control & Quality Assurance goals
- Travel to site where and when required
- Oversees the environmental and financial performance of Waste Management Services Program at sites. Responsibilities focus on the proper management of all contractor and professional services associated with hazardous and non-hazardous solid wastes as well as in-plant industrial services
- Responsible for overall cleanliness of waste areas, recycling areas (as applicable) and other accumulation areas and performs required inspections
- Ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies governing the proper management of solid and hazardous waste
- Performs and documents all regulatory and customer required inspections
- Ensures that contract and/or subcontract requirements are being met and/or exceeded
- Communicates with client(s), subcontractors and supervisors, any changes or discrepancies in contract and/or subcontract requirements
- Coordinates scheduling and pickup of waste for third party disposal
- Monitor activities, track waste and cost data and prepare comprehensive reports including provision of data for customer tracking databases as required by client
- Develop and implement plans and projects focusing on the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste generated by manufacturing, pollution control and maintenance operations
- Analyzes costs/benefits of new continual improvement initiatives
- Continually evaluates markets and third party recyclers to ensure customer is receiving the greatest value for commodity by-products
- Provide monthly data reports
- Conduct regulatory inspections as appropriate.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- College/University degree required – in Environmental and/or Chemistry;
- Knowledge of Ministry Of Environment Regulations
- Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act
- Experience in completing Waste Characterizations including sampling, as an asset
- Work experiences in a related field such as environmental services an asset
- Great communication

- Ability to persuade and communicate ideas
- Some travel required up to 1 week per month
Work Environment:
The Customer Service Waste Administrator is a permanent position, offered on a full-time basis from Monday to Friday, day time shifts.The incumbent must be able to drive to the customer site in Mississauga/GTA area when needed. Hybrid work format available following the training period.
