Delivery Driver
Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Delivery Driver is responsible for the delivery of Northerm products within and outside the Whitehorse area. The position is required to liaise with, Plant Manager, Sales Staff, and Departmental Supervisors with respect to the production timing and delivery of Northerm products. Must also liaise with Customers upon delivery of their products; ensuring all products are delivered in a safe and efficient manner.
The position operates a variety of tools and equipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful work environment, and performs other related duties.
Key responsibilities
- Delivery of all Northerm products
- Load and unload finished products
- Verify contents of shipments against shipping papers
- Inspect products for damage and ensure correct accessories as with work orders
- Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions
- Operate forklift and other machinery as required
- Time management
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure the vehicles are in proper working condition
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicle to supervisor/ maintenance personnel
- A valid driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract
- Good verbal and customer service skills
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor/ manager; such as: Production of products, assist in shipping/ receiving
Requirements
- Knowledge and awareness of safety regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Ability to effectively work in a team
- Able to prepare and load sealed units, glass, windows and doors for transportation
- Operate and handle tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Knowledge of the Whitehorse road system is an asset
- Ability to drive carefully and obey traffic laws and regulations
- Obtain and maintain a current standard first aid certification
- Proficient in both written and verbal English, with the ability to undertake conversations, as well as to provide clear direction to team members
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Willingness to participate in various trainings, like forklift etc.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs safely
