Position Overview
Casual, contract, 8-10 hrs./wk., daytime and evening hours. The Program Facilitator will develop and deliver weekly, in-person/online group sessions for the LIHS “Self-Empowerment for Women” Group. This program strengthens the wellbeing and safety of individuals who are at risk for experiencing abusive behavior, unhealthy relationships, and other life crisis. This individual will co-facilitate high quality, group-based programming; engaging participants in meaningful learning, while promoting personal growth and protective factors. The program facilitator will coordinate with other program staff and partnering agencies to organize, plan, prepare and deliver program sessions and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Co-facilitates weekly group sessions; in person and/or online, as circumstances dictate.
- Engages participants, builds warm rapport, promotes healthy group dynamics and establishes positive group guidelines.
- In collaboration with other program facilitators, is responsible for all aspects of session preparation, set up, facilitation and evaluation of program.
- Develops program session plans, content and updates program materials as requested.
- Communicates with referral sources and coordinates with partnering agencies as required.
Experience and Competencies
A post- secondary education in a Human Services or related field of study. Experience working with vulnerable populations, and a solid understanding of interpersonal violence and the effects of trauma. Excellent group facilitation skills and ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build warm rapport with diverse groups of people and successfully engage group members. A minimum of 3 year’s driving and insurance history.
