Job overview:
Tudor Manor is looking for the next great addition to our team! Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Care assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services and the provision of quality nursing care on a 24-hour basis to the residents of the Manor. Tudor Manor is home to 163 residents in publicly funded long term care and supportive living units. Our nursing team consists of over 150 clinical staff, including RNs, LPNs and HCAs.
In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Care allocates nursing resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest possible physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. He/she collaborates with residents and families, other BSF departments, medical professionals, consultants and organizations to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions and to represent the interests of the facility.
Some of the primary responsibilities include mentoring and leading the nursing team to ensure effective care and services and optimal resident outcomes; acting as a clinical resource for staff, and deploying available resources effectively; participating in the preparation for audits, inspections, investigations and surveys including, but not limited to, the Continuing Care Health Service and Accommodation Standards; in conjunction with the Executive Director, managing the annual budget for nursing supplies and equipment; demonstrating knowledge of RAI MDS 2.0 including coding, CAPS, outcome measures and RUG quality indicators; demonstrating knowledge of AHS Patient Based Funding system to support operational decisions (staffing, quality improvement, risk management); participating in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel and assures sufficient staff are hired; managing performance appraisals and disciplinary actions; monitoring and evaluating the nursing staffing requirements to ensure preapproved staffing levels are maintained within budgeted hours; monitoring the maintenance of accurate clinical records and reports required by legislation and in accordance with recognized nursing principles; collaborating with the services of Social Work, Pharmacy, MDS and Restorative Care as they relate to resident care; working closely with Medical Directors and physicians to address specific medical initiatives and issues; and coordinating nursing quality improvement initiatives, projects and research as identified by clinical indicators.
This is a Permanent Full Time 40 hr/week position.

Required education and experience:
- B.Sc.N. degree or approved equivalent;
- CNA certification in Gerontological Nursing;
- CARNA license required;
- Current BLS provider CPR;
- Five years’ experience in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing is Required;
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment an asset.
