Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. Currently, more than 15,000 credit students choose from 13 bachelor degrees and 38 majors.
Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation.

Mount Royal University’s Information Technology Services supports our mission by providing technical support, solutions, and diversified services to the Mount Royal community.
Reporting to the Chief Information Office (CIO), the IT Director, Solutions Delivery, serves as a senior leader within MRU’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team. The Director is responsible for overseeing the university’s ERP systems, business applications, software development, and project management office (PMO). The incumbent will oversee the delivery of approved projects and support programs that meet the institution’s needs and ensure that the scope of the overall portfolio is delivered in alignment with the ITS strategy and operating plan. The Director will develop and implement governance processes related to enterprise-wide system implementations, changes, and the prioritization of technology investments. The Director will drive transformation and a culture of delivery and innovation by motivating and mobilizing the team to implement the most effective methods for solution design, delivery and support.
MRU’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team has been expanded and revitalized. Responsible for leading the delivery and support of ERP systems, business applications and software development
Leads the PMO to define and implement best practices and methodologies for delivering successful IT projects
Formulates strategic plans and vision for enterprise applications and data management portfolio & services and contributes to overall IT strategy
Responsible for establishing application and data management governance framework and best practices for the university
Develops and implements governance processes related to enterprise-wide system implementations, changes, and prioritizing investments
Identifies, designs and drives cross-functional projects to improve the ability for teams to deliver high-value business solutions
Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
Maintains strong understanding & awareness of emerging technologies and trends to recommend new strategies and initiatives to enhance ITs’ ability to meet the university's changing needs, goals and objectives
Works closely with CIO & IT leadership team and key stakeholders to define success criteria for project and services
Establishes team goals, objectives, operating procedures, and key performance indictors (KPIs)
Assesses, manages and communicate risks associated with IT and/or institutional & enterprise risks
Develops, tracks and controls annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing and operations
Reviews performance of IT staff and services to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and continual service improvement opportunities
Provides leadership and guidance in evaluating and selecting new technologies and processes to support the university's business operations and strategic goals
Leads and participates in vendor selection and contract negotiations
Provides leadership and guidance on solution and data architectural design and technical considerations
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Business, or a related field is required. A combination of relevant education, skills, industry and leadership experience will be considered
Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology solutions architecture, software development and delivery, product management, and/or technical program and project management
5+ years of leadership experience; demonstrated effectiveness leading and managing highly skilled technical staff
5+ years leading complex, multi-million-dollar programs or technical solution implementations
Excellent leadership, communication, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution and planning skills
Experience in a post-secondary institution is preferred
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including tact and patience dealing with a wide range of clients
Excellent business, negotiating, organizational, leadership, managerial and planning skills
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work with limited direction, handle stress, and tolerate uncertainty
Demonstrated ability to foster staff growth and learning
Effective relationship management skills to work with stakeholders, including facilitation, communication and negotiation skills to run effective meetings related to governance, project reviews, steering committees, etc.
Demonstrated understanding of program & project management, business analysis, enterprise architecture
Excellent customer skills as well as verbal and written communication

Salary: $118,835.00 - $164,052.00 per annum
