Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting new opportunity for a Director of Operations. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the Operational effectiveness of Supply Chain and Operations to ensure consistent achievement of MRP and Quality requirements are met within budgeted targets. The Director of Operations will also have oversight of Facility Maintenance and HS&E.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop & implement plans to efficiently & effectively use materials, labour & equipment to meet customer expectation for product delivery
- Suggest, lead & direct changes to machinery, equipment, productions systems & methods of work to accomplish division goals
- Manage/optimize supply chain logistics-procurement, planning, demand management, master scheduling & shipping/receiving & warehousing
- Identify/implement best in class technology, infrastructure suitable to the scope & size of the business
- Establish appropriate inventory targets
- Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement
- Plan & Manage the establishment of departmental budgets
- Research & recommend an equipment investment plan to enhance divisional profitability
- Analyze data; make vs. buy, & develop recommendations
- Define and implement shop floor execution systems to provide real time analysis to monitor labour and product flow parameters
- Drive day to day accomplishments of schedule & utilization of assets
- Ensure that metrics are used & the outcome is planned to achieve agreed to result
- Ensure all regulatory & compliance measures are met (Ex. MOS, ITAR’s etc.)
- Assure supply chain synchronization and compliance to plan
- Oversee equipment & building maintenance plans & corrective actions to support operational requirements
- Travel
- Supervise Operations and Supply Chain Management teams
- Ability to work with Confidential information: e.g. Wages, Financial Statements, Product price, organizational plans
Position Requirements
- Minimum 4 year College Degree or equivalent preferably Engineering or Operations Management
- 5-10 years Senior Management experience in an aerospace manufacturing and AMO environment.
- Superior change management skills to identify, analyze, fix & communicate problem solutions
- Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing tools & techniques
- Computer skills: Project Management, ERP Systems, Microsoft Office
- Health & Safety Management skills
- Labour Relations, mentoring skills
- ERP/MRP/MES systems knowledge & expertise
- Airworthiness Regulations training
