Position: Manager, Application Architect
Status: Full Time

Reports to: Director, IT
Location: Head office Toronto (hybrid working model)
The Opportunity
Manager, Application Architect, will be responsible for the design and operational support of application architecture across the enterprise in alignment with business requirements. The role will work with senior stakeholders within the business and IT to clearly articulate IT’s capabilities both current and future. This is a key position that requires a broad base knowledge of technologies to develop a high performance, consolidated application roadmap across the enterprise.
How You Will Be Spending Your Time.
1. Creates and supports application-level documentation which is leveraged to:
- Support operational needs (incidents, changes, releases);
- Improve operational resilience and performance; and
- Design new services for the business.
2. An active member of the operational resilience team (incidents, changes releases).3. Provide support for a hybrid environment including on-premise and AWS environments.4. Provide leadership regarding TravelBrand’s migration to AWS. Redesign environments prior to migration. Ensure on-premise and AWS environments are designed in alignment with industry best practices.5. Provide leadership regarding the consolation of TravelBrand’s people, process, and technologies to eliminate unnecessary silos. Select the right technology for the right problem without over engineering. Where possible, achieve new deliverables using existing applications. Regarding applications which require modernization, provide a migration plan. Ensure consistency and standardization across applications.6. Identify areas where automation can be leveraged to improve efficiency. Lead the implementation of automation where feasible.7. Articulate IT’s capabilities with the business. A trusted advocate for the business. Contributes to effective communications between business and IT.8. Other duties as assigned.
The Skills, Experience and Requirements You Need to be Successful.
1. 10 years of experience with the design and support of applications.
2. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A master's degree is an asset.
3. Experience within AWS and on-premises environments.
4. Experience managing and leading technical teams.
5. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts across the entire organization.
6. Willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
7. Proven strategic thinking, open to new perspectives and better ways to do things.
8. Experience with the following architecture methods, tools, and technologies:
