Tri-global Solutions Group Inc. is seeking one (1) Senior Financial Analyst to join our talented Service Delivery team at Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade (Government of Alberta) to complete a post-mortem review of the FY 22-23 financial reporting process.
NOTES ON LOCATION: The successful candidate(s) will work a hybrid model: 3 days a week on site, in the office (Edmonton, AB) and 2 days remotely. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time. Office located at Commerce Place, 10155 - 102 Street Edmonton, AB.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
To complete a post-mortem review of the FY 22-23 financial reporting process to identify and understand the root causes of unreconciled accounting and process issues and provide improvements and recommendations.
ADDITIONAL DELIVERY DETAILS
- To review and resolve unreconciled accounting differences in 1GX and S4/Hana.
- To review year end templates and determine if the data captured is sufficient for consolidation, accounting journals, and to populate financial statement note disclosures.
- To support financial planning team in month end, quarter end and year end closes and ensure financial statements are reconciled.
- To identify any large variances and provide explanation.
- To document internal and external financial reporting processes and provide improvements
- To review accounting allowances and estimates and determine if calculations are done appropriately and provide recommendations.
- Other ad hoc financial reporting or financial modeling work as required.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Candidate will apply their accounting skills to full cycle accounting and financial reporting, including developing and executing month end processes, financial analysis, dashboards and external/internal reporting.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Perform month end close procedures and prepare month end reconciliations.
- Assist with quarterly and annual audit processes as needed.
- Assist and provide direction to others within the accounting department and advise direct report of potential areas for improvement.
- Ensure accounting task completion in accordance with policies, procedures, and business strategies.
- Create all financial reports in accordance with appropriate accounting framework.
- Review monthly reconciliation of Bank Accounts.
- Prepare any internal review documents.
- Reconcile GL Balance Sheet accounts.
- Prepare timely and accurate management reports as required.
- Assist senior management with special projects as required.
- Review work performed by other Financial Analysts in the group, and play a lead role on cross-government financial reporting and assurance teams.
- Develop comprehensive implementation plans to sustain financial accountability within the Ministry; and reviewing applicable policies and procedures.
- Work with business entities to gather and disseminate information for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
MANDATORY SKILLS
M1. Proposed resource must have achieved Bachelor in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance (5+ years)
M2. Proposed resource must have achieved CPA Designation (5+ years)
M3. Proposed resource must have 5 years of demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) (5+ years)
M4. Proposed resource must have the demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct and manage accounting figures and financial records (5+ years)
M5. Proposed resource must have required knowledge of accounting systems (1GX and S4/Hana) (5+ years)
M6. Proposed resource must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (5+ years)
M7. Proposed resource must possess knowledge of Accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards (5+ years)
M8. Proposed resource must possess ability to maintain accuracy and pay careful attention to detail (5+ years)
M9. Proposed resource must have strong work ethic and positive team attitude (5+ years)
M10. Proposed resource must have the ability to interact and collaborate with others (5+ years)
M11. Proposed resource must have high customer service and ethics (5+ years)
M12. Proposed resource must have demonstrated experience with month end, quarter end and year end financial reporting in a large organization (5+ years)
M13. Proposed resource must have required knowledge of processes, budgets, and internal controls (5+ years)
M14. Proposed resource must have demonstrated experience in financial reporting roles at public sectors (5+ years)
DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
D1. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience in the financial department at Post Secondary Institutions, such as financial reporting and/or budgeting (3+ years)
D2. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience with reconciling month ends, quarter ends and year ends at public sectors (5+ years)
D3. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience with documenting, identifying and improving financial internal controls (5+ years)
D4. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience in forecasting and financial modeling to provide management with information for decision making (5+ years)
D5. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience in analyzing actuals to budget and budgets to forecast and investigating differences and providing management with an explanation (5+ years)
D6. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience in performing complex accounting consolidation of multiple large organizations (5+ years)
D7. Proposed resource should have demonstrated work experience in assessing impact of Public Sector Accounting Standards and the impact on financial reporting and be able to provide recommendations and accounting treatments (5+ years)
