Position Summary
The Research Financial Services (RFS) department provides post-award financial management of federal, provincial, international and private contracts and grants related to research for multiple Research Institutes at University Health Network. We are looking for a Financial Analyst I to join our team. They will work closely with the Senior Business Analyst to assist with financial reporting, planning and forecasting for UHN's Research Institutes and various other duties as outlined below.
Duties
- Review new Research account set-up requests in conjunction with granting agency/industry/foundation documents
- Contribute to one of the key KPI's of the department
- Respond to clients in a timely manner
- Financial reporting and analysis, periodic review of outstanding tasks and follow up, as necessary
- Assist Manager with periodic reporting, respond to reporting requests or other requests as needed
- Perform cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
- Work closely with institutional and other partners, departments and UHN hospitals
Qualifications
- Community college diploma (three years) in Business Administration or equivalent program
- University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, preferred or experience with minimum 2-year college diploma, in business, finance or related discipline
- Experience with grant accounting or in a research organization/department would be asset along with understanding grant budgets and their components
- Experience and knowledge in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures
- 1 to 2 years related experience in a financial environment
- Experience and knowledge in preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements to granting agencies and other organizations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills
- Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word, Access)
