Direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the operation which includes supervision of the delivery/warehouse staff, receiving, storage, distribution, systems administration, inventory control, sanitation and maintenance and customer service. To oversee operations activities in compliance with space availability, order fulfillment and business plans. Responsible for the overall strategic design and direction of the overall operations, customer service and client relationships. Ensure the training of employees, setting of performance goals, organization of work, and maintenance of a productive and participatory environment
RESPONSBILITES:
- Responsible for full P&L
- Day to day priorities include H&S, customer satisfaction, growth, people development, operational excellence, continuous improvement in all areas
- Develop and direct Warehouse employees to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility
- Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity
- Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives
- Draw on relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals
- Plan, monitor, and analyze KPI’s for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
- Ensures facility is compliant and inspection ready with Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment, OHSA, OHS, fire department and other regulatory agency requirements
- Ensures compliance with, and improvement of HS programs that meet federal and provincial and local regulatory requirements, including Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Key liaison with Sales and other business leaders to create a pipeline for customer growth.
- Reports of department and/or account productivity and profitability
- Ensures proper percentage of labor is charged to respective departments to ensure proper factoring is achieved to identify accurate productivity
- Ensures the daily pre-shift meetings cover previous productivity, operational problems, forecasting workload and any other pertinent company information
- Annual review of customer contracts, determining and recommending annual increases
- Manage and maintain good human resources practices with direct reports, and adherence to established corporate and department policies and procedures
- Conduct regular coaching and feedback on performance for direct reports
- Works with Human Resources to resolve employee relation issues, discipline actions, discipline, problem resolution and terminations
- Work closely with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
- Audits all billing activity for accuracy. Properly signs and authorizes all purchase order requisitions, vouchers and customer billing
- Coordinates with customers on product programs
- Manage satellite warehouse locations
EDUCATION /JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in General Business or related field
- Maintaining a Controlled Goods security clearance is an expectation of employment
- At least 7-10 years’ overall experience at the leadership level
- Must have experience in third party logistics (3PL)
- Experience in managing a 100,000+ sq. ft. warehouse/distribution center with total revenues over 1m comprised of multiple customers and multiple warehouse locations
- Experience with global locations would be considered an asset
- Experience with managing the distribution, storage and handling of hazardous materials per WHMIS and ISO standards/regulations
- Skilled in risk assessment and analysis of potential hazards
