Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is seeking an inspiring, motivated, and mission-driven human resources leader to help build capacity in a culturally diverse environment while ensuring the efficient and effective HR service delivery including implementing strategic projects and programs in support of IRC’s goals and objectives.
IRC was created in 1984 to represent the Inuvialuit and their rights and benefits obtained under one of Canada's oldest comprehensive land claim agreements. With assets over $1 billion, not including vast land holdings, IRC is responsible for corporate investment, land management, and a broad range of social, cultural, and economic programs and services benefiting Inuvialuit. Its subsidiaries have interests in grocery, manufacturing, property management, transportation, and significant dealings in the oil and gas industry.
Since its inception, IRC has experienced considerable growth and its structure and operations have become increasingly complex. Combining local government and service delivery, community development, investment, and operating business divisions, all managed by a single back office, the organization has an array of complexities for the executive staff to navigate. There is an emphasis on fostering understanding, healing, and resilience in a region brimming with unique social challenges and immense potential for transformative change.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Human Resources, the Senior Manager, Human Resources is both a strategic and operational role that provides leadership for day-to-day operations of the human resources team. This role is critical in executing project initiatives, providing effective HR operational support, driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The Senior Manager provides consulting and advisory services in all areas of human resources including: employee relations, recruitment and retention, performance management, occupational safety, health, and wellness, compensation and benefits, and disability management. The Senior Manager also leads the implementation of programs, including onboarding, training and development and other organizational development initiatives. They will capitalize on the previous successes of the business while building sustainable processes and ensuring continuity of strong HR operations within all IRC divisions and subsidiaries. Based in the IRC corporate offices in Inuvik, NT, the new Senior Manager, Human Resources will need to learn and demonstrate an understanding of the organization's complexities, culture, politics, and Inuvialuit values to effectively lead HR operations, make decisions and solve complex issues.
You are a resourceful and resilient HR leader from a complex environment where your mandate encompassed both tactical and strategic components. In this capacity, you would have led small teams, assisted in the development of progressive talent management programs, and supported business leaders in achieving ambitious corporate objectives. As an HR leader, you will be able to embed innovative strategies for employee engagement, rewards and recognition and culture development across an organization. You have excellent judgment and critical thinking skills, an ability to distil complex issues, and an ability to apply knowledge of human resource principles in a dynamic, changing environment. Priority will be given to Inuvialuit Beneficiary candidates, and experience working within another Indigenous organization or one with parallel complexities will be highly valued.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of related experience.
- Post-Secondary education in a related field, preferably in Human Resources Management or related such as Business Administration is preferred.
- Experience leading a team is an asset.
- CPHR or equivalent is an asset.
