Summary
The Cloud Security Engineer’s primary responsibility is to support the Information Security Team providing analysis of cloud cybersecurity architecture, compliance with Federal regulation and policy, and commercial best practices relating to cloud security. Responsibilities will include the information security aspects of building, implementing, maintaining, security controls for cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Review cloud migration and implementation plans for security best practices, risks, and compliance issues and provide feedback.
- Collaborate with IT teams on the implementation of security controls in cloud environments.
- Provide subject matter expertise on cloud security controls and systems to IT and business teams
- Facilitate and/or coordinate vulnerability remediation activities and security improvements in cloud environments.
- Contribute to the organization’s security policies and standards for use in cloud environments
- Assisting in the response to incidents and investigations in cloud environments
- Escalate issues that require immediate action or in-depth review to Team Lead or Manager
- Produce written documentation on cloud security implementation, standards, best practices, and operational processes.
- Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans and disaster recovery testing for cloud-based environments.
- Monitor costs associated with cloud security controls and systems. Make recommendations to manage or reduce costs associated with such controls and systems.
- Stay informed of emerging cloud security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.
- Other duties as assigned based on the ongoing evolution of the Information Security program.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an information security role with a focus on securing cloud technology.
- Understanding of Information Security controls, governance principles and standards/frameworks such as ISO 27001.
- Knowledge of technical security controls and mitigations specific to cloud environments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively under deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Demonstrate good critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to share constructive insights and proactively collaborate with a focus on continuous improvement
- Knowledge of cross-border regulations, such as GDPR and EU data Privacy rules are a plus
- Industry certifications such as Security+, SSCP, CISSP, or GSEC, CCSP, CCSK are a plus.
- Cloud-specific certifications such as Microsoft Azure Security Technologies, AWS Certified Security.
