About This Role:
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer in the FX Distribution team to add business value for our Retail and Commercial bank partners. The ideal candidate will have a thirst for problem solving, and curiosity to understand complex systems and appetite for continuous improvement. The candidate will be delivering and maintaining working software that will have a real impact on the way our bank does business. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies to solve problems of scale and speed.
The role will require an understanding of the FX business, low latency trading, messaging solutions, working in Java.
Responsibilities
- Write high quality robust, testable software
- Take features from analysis to design, development, testing through delivery and maintenance
- Be comfortable working with legacy and new applications
- Work closely with our business and business analysts to understand and solve their business problems
- Documentation of code and processes
- Seek to innovate, look for opportunities to improve practice and suggest change
- Be ready to evaluate relative pros and cons of different approaches to solutions
- Identify and leverage best practices in continuous integration and delivery
- Help drive transformation by continuously looking for ways to automate existing processes
- Participate in code reviews to address quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance, Operational Readiness Reviews, and support gating and review sign-offs for solution design.
- Support knowledge management processes and ensure knowledge is codified, monitored, tracked and managed.
- Provide technical support to promptly resolve escalated incidents/outages.
Job Requirements

- Java Developer with 3+ years of experience ( inc. Spring, messaging, concurrency )
- Sound experience of relational databases
- Knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques
- A passion for simplifying and automating work, for making things better, for being efficient and helping others
- Good communicator with strong written and oral communication skills
- Scripting skills e.g. bash, python
- Attention to detail
- Strong discipline
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
