This position has responsibility for company-wide operational requirements related to Information Technology including managing a team of IT professionals. With operations in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, this position works closely with all stakeholders to ensure IT operations are aligned with corporate objectives and business unit needs. This position is responsible for developing and establishing IT infrastructure standards as well as the analysis, design, deployment, and operations of IT infrastructure systems supporting the business. The Senior Manager IT Infrastructure Operations has the responsibility to ensure Canadian Solar’s network infrastructure and systems, whether delivered in-house or vendor provided, run smoothly and perform to established targets. Strong leadership and technical skills are required for success in this role as well as the ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and implement standards, and operate systems for the company in all aspects of IT infrastructure: network, servers, storage, databases, wireless technology, communications and telephony systems, file and print services, etc.
- Prepare status and activity metrics to track delivery of IT services, planned and unplanned system outages, and other key IT performance metrics.
- Work closely with the IT cyber security team to maintain the overall security of Canadian Solar’s IT systems, network, and data, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure high availability of critical business systems.
- Ensure high reliability and optimization of all systems by managing capacity utilization of infrastructure systems and services.
- Contribute to the development of IT departmental strategies to align with overall corporate strategy.
- Develop, implement, and maintain overall data backup and recovery strategy.
- Establish and implement industry best practice IT infrastructure standards as well as departmental policies and procedures.
- Establish guidelines to monitor systems performance and service stability; report on the status of systems.
- Research emerging technology and trends to identify potential improvements and stay current with industry technology trends.
- Overall responsibility for strategic planning of infrastructure system upgrades.
- Develop business cases and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Monitor physical inventory levels and virtual capacity; recommend purchases of supplies and equipment as needed to meet operational requirements.
- Determine, recommend, and implement hardware and software upgrades for business applications, server hardware, network equipment, desktop, laptop, etc.
- Be proactive in staying up-to-date with ongoing projects, projects in the pipeline, and operational issues.
- Good knowledge of government regulations to ensure our infrastructure and network are compliant.
- Guide the process to find solutions to complex technical issues.
- Responsible to manage budgets or work within the budget.
- Contribute to the implementation and management of disaster recovery/continuity of operations program.
- Create clear, risk mitigation strategies with appropriate stakeholders.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Math, or equivalent.
- Certifications in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professionals).
- Project management experience and/or PMP designation a definite asset.
- Experience with Oracle, JD Edwards, ERP, POS (Point-of-Sale), and Loyalty programs.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience.
- ITIL certification is an asset.
- Must have strong, hands-on technical knowledge of core systems such as JD Edwards, Oracle.
- Must have good familiarity with other IT infrastructure technologies such as large-scale high-performance storage systems, databases, telephony, cloud computing, point-of-sale (POS) technology, loyalty software, and mainframe applications.
- Experience with Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN).
- Knowledge of standards and methodologies to ensure a compliant and optimal infrastructure environment.

- Work with other senior IT managers and project managers on vendor selection and vendor management.
