The Marketing Manager will work with Gwaandak Theatre to build on the initial framework for a dedicated marketing department. The Marketing Manager will build on the institutional knowledge of past marketing positions and the current Executive Artistic Director's vision to create and implement a strategy for Gwaandak's 2023-2024 season, including digital mediums, traditional (analog - print/radio) mediums, and guerilla marketing projects. Additionally, the Manager will work with directors and other interns and contractors to source and create content (for example, promotional materials for productions, or promoting fund development initiatives).
Reporting to the Artistic Director and working in a dedicated team with the Production Manager and Administrative and Operational Manger, the Marketing Manager will learn the ins and outs of marketing for the Yukon's only Indigenous-centered professional theatre company. They will also have opportunities for professional development and mentorship with those working in similar Marketing/Communications positions at other theatres nation-wide, and will exercise their own leadership and mentorship skills as they oversee a Social Media Coordinator.
Key outcomes will include:
- Cohesive annual strategy that can be added to the operational manual and updated during the company's admin phases each year, including a focus on marketing for digital programming vs marketing for live, in-person programming
- Understanding of how Yukoners, specifically Indigenous Yukoners, engage with Gwaandak through different marketing mediums
- Developing an evaluation framework to guide marketing strategy (using social media analytics, audience feedback surveys etc.)
- Creating a list of media contacts for press releases, interviews etc.
- Creating a communications plan that ensures consistent communications with GTS membership and the broader mailing list through regular e-newsletters
- Increased member engagement

- Has experience or an interest in designing content (there will be opportunities to use design software like Canva to create graphics and branding for programming)
- Is interested in social media strategy and analytics
- Has experience with website design and maintenance (Gwaandak uses Squarespace)
