Job Description
Conservation Visions is a private Canadian social enterprise, spearheaded by prominent Newfoundland-born researcher and nature conservation advocate, Shane Mahoney. Dedicated to the preservation of wild species, wild spaces, and human cultural diversity, the Conservation Visions Team supports the application of scientific, Indigenous, and local knowledge in environmental management approaches; and recognizes the benefits of sustainable wildlife use as a driver for improved, incentivized conservation and more resilient human livelihoods. We are scientists, researchers, educators, advocates, professional networkers, policy advisors, and – most importantly – highly effective communicators.
We are seeking a skilled social media specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, creating, scheduling, and publishing content on all social media platforms (focusing primarily, though, on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) to grow our audience, build brand awareness, and, ultimately, influence attitudes and behaviors.
They will oversee site metrics, including monitoring SEO and audience engagement; optimize company pages within each platform; interact with audiences and moderate user-generated content; be responsible for creative design and suggest content optimization; create editorial calendars and syndication schedules; and interact with industry professionals and influencers. They will be responsible for devising/managing strategy, community management, and copywriting.
Experience with paid social media strategies is a strong asset. The successful candidate will be adept at using tools such as Facebook Ads Manager. Strong interpersonal skills are also essential. All candidates should be well-read, detail-oriented, proven efficient multi-taskers, and well-suited to work independently. A bachelor's degree (or academic equivalent) and at least 2 years experience working in the field are required. Candidates with additional experience in website management (specifically WordPress) will be given preference.
Applicants are encouraged to provide references with the initial application. A writing sample may be requested from applicants who are invited to interview. Salary will be competitive and may be discussed with the successful candidate.
