Position: Project HSE Lead
Location: Various, Depending on Project Requirements

Energy Wind & Renewables is an Alberta-born full-service wind energy solutions provider, specializing in wind turbine erection and assembly; preconstruction planning; electrical cabling and connections; major component maintenance; and decommissioning.
As the Project HSE Lead, you are responsible for administering the safety program with the support and direction from the Project HSE Manager and respective management groups within Energy Wind & Renewables (EWR). This position must advise on safety standards, regulations, and compliance, and make recommendations to improve health, safety, and well-being of team members.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices and procedures.
- Encourage and promote a safe work culture.
- Audit performance and communicate compliance with policies, programs, and procedures.
- Provide advice related to health and safety matters, legislative requirements and best practices in the field and office.
- Lead incident investigations and recommend corrective actions; following through with proper documentation in the investigation report, as well as ensuring that corrective actions are implemented.
- Create Job Hazard Analysis and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Coordinate drug and alcohol testing.
- Reinforce a positive safety culture through safety education training, risk assessment and compliance programs.
- Conduct and review hazard assessments for higher-risk activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Perform site and shop inspections on a regular basis.
- Review and provide guidance to employees on GPS/ELD, JHA and field level hazard assessments.
- Assist and coach supervisors and managers on performing incident reporting and investigations, safety meetings, hazard assessment processes, and worker safety education.
- Provide management with reports on WCB incidents and injuries, lost time injuries, health-related absenteeism and other occupational health and safety information.
- Ensure documentation and retention of all health and safety-related records in a timely fashion.
- Monitor safety supplies and replenishments.
- Create and coordinate monthly safety meetings.
- Conduct new hire orientation and complete required documentation.
- Assist with HSE Qualifications.
- Monitor and update SDS Library.
- Coordinate audiometric testing.
- Monitor Carrier profile
- Review driver's abstracts for high risk drivers and provide recommendations to Managers.
- Participate as an active member in the JHSC meeting.
- Create HSE alerts and/or advisories.
- Establish inspection schedules and participate and/or lead job site inspections, assign corrective action and report back to workers on inspection findings.
- Positively encourage and participate in a “Near Miss Reporting.”
- Performs various levels of hazard assessment attests and audits and follow through with appropriate coaching and support for all corrective actions.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Working Conditions:
· Overtime may be required.
· Travel will be required.
Working Environment:
· Typically work will be performed in an office setting on site. However, when conducting site visits, and/or work site inspections there may be exposure to hazards or other physical risks. Risk Assessment must be completed, and measures must be put in place before any work is performed to either eliminate, mitigate or control the hazard.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
· 5+ years of experience in a Health and Safety role, with experience in a supervisory capacity
· Safety certification required NCSO.
· Preference given to candidates holding or actively working toward a professional Health and Safety designation (ie. OHS diploma/CRSP/CRST/CSP)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
