Air Canada is looking for a strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Operations Analytics. Reporting to the Director, Operations Analytics, this position is focused on turning data into insights and will be responsible for processing a range of complex sets of data and connecting that with actions to drive operational performance. Leveraging advanced analytical tools and models, as well as statistical and financial modeling techniques, the incumbent will help transform and augment the Operations process effectiveness, and lead enterprise-wide solutions and opportunities for improvement.
Accountabilities (Responsibilities):
- Develop high quality, intuitive analytic solutions to complex Operations branch problems to drive operational efficiency and assess the cost-benefit implications of proposed solutions
- Interact with various Branch leaders to understand project requirements and constraints; work in various phases of the project lifecycle including research, requirements generation, design, implementation, testing, integration, installation and documentation
- Foster innovation of analytics projects of different varieties including strategy, advanced modeling, and data mining, providing full oversight of engagement structure, team management, and deliverables for team
- Collaborates with various stakeholders and subject matter experts across Air Canada to identify new ways of leveraging data to assist with analytical needs and project insights to influence business priorities and strategic initiatives
- Provide an Operations branch view of analytical opportunities to help business lines make informed operational decisions for current and future business needs
- Lead the definition and governance of key metrics, drive the vision and building of Operations Analytics
- Ensure/promote the adoption of data management standards, policies and procedures in the Operations branch
- Act as a process improvement leader in matters of data science and analytics; maintain awareness of best practices to improve operational efficiency and/or correct model deficiencies
- Provide strategic, technical, and project leadership for the data explorations of new and existing data sources to maximize value creation and innovations.
- Drive, develop and deliver new strategic solutions to support operational initiatives and targets
- Demonstrate initiative, a strong commitment to achieving meaningful results, and act on opportunities to create value.
- Hire, manage, develop, mentor and support a highly skilled team of Data Scientists
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the field of data analytics or data science turning data into insights and providing insights across an enterprise.
- University degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Engineering or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills; experience in statistical, analytical and data extraction methods and tools.
- Ability to understand various data structures and common methods of data transformation.
- Employs Six Sigma, Lean, project management, change management, and other process improvement methodologies and analytics into the operations organization to accomplish business objectives.
- Specialized knowledge of scripting programming languages including but not limited to Python, R and SQL.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent assignments effectively.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment; work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment
