Create a better tomorrow with us! Ready to explore #YourSpaceToChargeUP+?
As we stand on the cusp of a green revolution, our global society faces a critical need: the rapid transition of our mobility sector and energy grid to renewable energies. As sustainability-focused engineers and technologists at Siemens, we understand the magnitude of this challenge and are poised to make a profound, direct impact. To enable this transition, we are pioneering innovative approaches from utilizing automation controls and large-scale networks of systems, to analytics and AI that will transform how energy storage systems are produced.
By building the next generation of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms to enhance interconnectivity and automation at a grand scale, we are at the forefront, trailblazing a path towards an unprecedented level of efficiency. Our objectives are ambitious yet clear: to halve production times and reduce scrap rates by at least 5 percentage points in state-of-the-art battery Gigafactories around the world.
Join us at SiemensBattery Accelerator, an organization composed of multiple agile internal start-ups, where you can make a tangible and meaningful impact on our journey forward. If you are inspired by our goals and are ready to make a difference in the world, we would love to hear from you!
About the role:
We are looking for a Program Operations Manager to orchestrate governance activities across our program: your primary goal will be to facilitate the smooth delivery of our technology projects by employing pragmatic governance practices. This involves executing Scrum activities, defining and refining procedures for improved operational efficiency, monitoring and reporting on projects progression, and collaborating closely with development and product teams to identify and address risks and challenges. Your active involvement will be key to ensuring the successful delivery of projects, while also fostering a transparent and collaborative environment.
More specifically, you will:
- Implement and execute governance procedures to ensure the successful, on-time, and within-budget delivery of technology projects.
- Continually streamline governance processes to enhance operational efficiency and ensure the scalability of operations to meet future demands.
- Proactively monitor project progression, making necessary process adjustments to enhance delivery pace, increase productivity, and reduce unnecessary overhead.
- Identify and raise potential operational risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and manage the resolution of any issues that may impact program operations.
- Communicate key governance updates and insights to stakeholders and development teams, ensuring alignment, facilitating understanding of program status, and fostering a collaborative decision-making environment.
What you will need to succeed in this role:
- An undergraduate degree in Management Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar. A graduate degree would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in roles such as Project Manager, Scrum Master, Program Manager, or similar. Alongside this, you are familiar with standard practices of software development, backed by your experience working alongside software developers and engineers. Some previous experience as a developer would be considered an asset.
- A proven track record, illustrating your ability to manage complex projects, and delivering them on time, within budget, and in alignment with strategic objectives. Professional certifications such as PMP or Agile Scrum Master would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrable proficiency in adapting and refining governance processes for operational efficiency. You should be adept at developing pragmatic and streamlined processes that enhance productivity and scalability, while keeping bureaucracy to the minimum.
- Mastery of project management tools, with a demonstrated ability to leverage their features for efficient task tracking, issue management, and project progress visibility. Expertise with the Atlassian stack would be considered an asset.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Your skills should enable you to create intuitive, data-driven reports and dashboards that provide a clear and transparent view of project progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on risk management. You should have experience in proactively identifying potential operational risks, recommending effective mitigation strategies, and managing the resolution of issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills, evidenced by your ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to a diverse range of stakeholders. You should be proficient in fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration, thereby enabling informed decision-making.
- A collaborative approach to leadership. You should have a history of working effectively with development teams and other stakeholders, addressing project challenges through collective problem-solving and a shared commitment to success. Experience working with international teams would be considered an asset.
This position is a hybrid role based out of our newly established office in the Waterloo Region.
