The Centre for Indigenous Studies (CIS) is mandated to foster innovative, participatory research with urban Indigenous peoples and develop collaborations with Indigenous communities and community organizations. CIS cultivates research on Indigenous pedagogy, methodologies and epistemology that focus on Indigenous peoples as cultural workers, social change agents, leaders and thinkers. CIS also supports the recruitment and retention of Indigenous graduate and undergraduate students and is working to enhance the visibility of Indigenous peoples at the University of Toronto.
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Centre for Indigenous Studies, the Outreach Communications and Programming Coordinator provides outreach, communications, events and administrative support to the various programming initiatives organized by the Centre for Indigenous Studies. A critical team member, the Outreach Communications and Programming Coordinator works collaboratively with colleagues and community members to organize and promote arts, language, and culture programs for students, faculty, staff, and external community members.
Your responsibilities will include:
Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts- Drafting internal and external communications
- Tracking and collecting information on project progress
- Maintaining information on digital platforms
- Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming; disseminating event-related information.
- Collating and organizing data for various reports
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Preparing expense reimbursements
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.- Minimum three years of recent and related experience in working with Indigenous communities on planning and executing Indigenous-focused arts, language, and culture programs/events, preferably in a post-secondary education environment.
- Experience in and extensive knowledge and understanding of the cultures and histories of the Indigenous communities in and around Toronto.
- Experience collaborating and working with the Toronto Indigenous artistic community.
- Experience updating event and promotional materials.
- Experience uploading content to websites and social media.
- Experience putting together status update reports.
- Experience creating and submitting expense reimbursement reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Intermediate skills with WordPress, Drupal, or other similar content management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Assets (Nonessential):
Knowledge of the Centre for Indigenous Studies and their Indigenous programs.

USW Pay Band 09 - $60,006 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $76,739. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
