Under the direction of one of the Supervisor, Culture Programs – Performing Arts, the Culture Programmer will support the Performing Arts team to develop, coordinate, promote and provide high quality Culture programs and services in the performing arts.
- Working within a team to plan, develop and implement various Culture Programs
- Provide customer service, resolve issues and communicate changes/cancellations.
- Assist with functional guidance of part-time staff, including coordinating and preparing materials for staff orientation and training
- Assist Supervisors with the supervision of part time staff including evaluations, scheduling and hiring
- Manage volunteer recruitment, training and supervision to support programs and camps
- Assist with the operation of all programs including regular program visits, Quest 2 evaluations, program planning and program manual creation and maintenance
- Assist Supervisors by responding to ad-hoc programming requests including workshops, school programming, special events and outreach initiatives
- Take part in budget forecast/management functions, invoice payment
- Provide administrative support including inputting part time payroll, program details into ActiveNet, form collection, printing class lists, newsletters, program hand-outs, certificates and report cards.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory including supply delivery, tracking, and equipment
- Manage the coordination of the Recital Dance Program and Competitive Team costumes (collection of measurements, choosing costume, placing order, ensuring timelines are met and delivery) within the established budget as required
- Perform the duties of Creative Director for in house produced productions when required
- Assist with creating and managing backstage logistics for the annual Recital Dance Program production including defining and assigning role and responsibilities, dressing room and backstage logistics, dancer arrival and dismissal
- Direct and/or stage mange Recital Dance Program productions and other in-house produced production as required
- Responsible for overseeing the technical components (Music, Lighting and Sound Cue) for Recital Program, Sessional Program and Camp Productions and liaising with technical services at each venue
- Manage digital centralized communication/promotional assets (i.e. Dropbox, Basecamp, Survey Monkey, SharePoint and our internal computer drives)
- Work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends to meet program support needs
- Comply with relevant City policies.
- Provide ad hoc assistance on projects/initiatives within the unit/team.
- Use information that is stored within the unit/team and/or available without special authorization
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Arts Administration, Education or related field with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in an arts education setting or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Formal training in music or theatre is an asset.
- Formal training in dance disciplines including performance and technical experience and current dance knowledge is preferred
- Certification in one of the following: CDTA, BATD, DMA, RAD or equivalent is an asset
- First-Aid, CPR "C"
- High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development, High Five Quest 2 Certification
- Knowledge of R3/SAP, SharePoint and ActiveNet is a definite asset
- Microsoft Office software and appropriate City software.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" license and access to a vehicle is required
- Attention to detail in emergency situations.
- Occasional fill-in instruction of Culture classes.
- Knowledge and experience of Culture program design and delivery (i.e. teaching, digital, literary, performing, visual arts )
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability
- to establish effective working relationships
- Ability to work in a changing environment and have an interest in broadening your experience is desired
Candidates will be participating in an interview, written and practical assessment as part of the hiring processes. The practical assessment is currently scheduled to take place, Aug 21st – 25th
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 65,753.00 - $ 87,671.00
