Develops and prepares work plans as part of multi-year, multi-discipline capital projects. Coordinates, controls, monitors, and supervises all phases of the assigned project(s), including inception, definition of scope, planning, design, procurement and construction, through commissioning and handover to project close-out. Ensures project delivery is in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget and quality assurance parameters.- Assist the Project Manager to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget and with requisite quality from inception through scope development, design, procurement, construction, handover, and closeout.
- Lead Designers (consultant or in-house) through the design phase and the preparation of the construction contract(s).
- Ensure construction documents include appropriate constraints and milestones to facilitate operations, customer service, and third party requirements.
- Monitor technical performance of the Designers and ensure all engineering milestones are met.
- Coordinate work by third parties and value engineering activities.
- Obtain all the required sign-off and approvals both internally and from external agencies.
- Provide project management support to the Construction Site Manager during construction, commissioning and handover, including the coordination of all scope and engineering changes.
- Prepare various status reports for the Project Manager, and perform related administrative duties as assigned to meet project requirements and commitments.

- Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree (in a related engineering discipline or in architecture), combined with extensive experience in the areas of project/construction/engineering management of heavy construction and/or large, multi-disciplined projects; or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer or Architect in the Province of Ontario is required.
- Experience and involvement with delivery of progressive design-build contracting model is considered an asset.
- Extensive experience in project/construction management in managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects, and related works.
- Prior experience with transit agencies is an asset.
- Knowledge of Design Bid Build (DBB) Contract Administration is required
- PMP certification would be an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices, combined with comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and practices, including conceptual planning and all phases of design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques and practices, contract administration, construction inspection, and knowledge of pertinent Acts and Regulations (Construction Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.).
- Familiarity with project management information systems and reporting as it relates to control of scope, scheduling and cost.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and work with multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within and outside the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and obtain cooperation from a diverse group of internal and external project stakeholders to achieve the goals and objectives of the project.
- Sound judgement; multi-tasking, excellent time management and strong problem solving skills.
- A valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s license.
