Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Project Manager to join our team! In this role you will get to manage the construction of a large-scale water treatment plant for the Faro Mine Remediation Project!
What You'll Be Doing:
- Manages large-scale water treatment plant construction project.
- Manages large budget using a cost-plus contracting model
- Manages inter-disciplinary teams of professionals and supporting labor categories.
- Integrates competing and/or conflicting elements into the planning and execution processes so that project requirements flow smoothly.
- Acts as the Company representative with the client and subcontractors during work execution.
- Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and subcontractors.
- Follows up on instructions and commitments associated with projects.
- May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of clients.
- Works with other managers, project staff, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
- Works with the project staff to devise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
- Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the projects through the application of Quality Assurance processes.
- Prepares correspondence, written reports and presentations (for regulators / clients / subcontractors and senior personnel).
- Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which could affect project cost or schedule.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, Engineering or related field
- Professional designation (or the ability to obtain one) as an engineer.
- An advanced degree is an asset.
- 12+ years of experience in the heavy civil/construction industry performing technical and project management duties.
- Water treatment plant construction experience is an asset.
- Managing complex budgets including the implementation of a cost-plus contracting model.
- Must have extensive experience with construction, and related projects (Abatement, demolition, water treatment)
- Knowledgeable of Canadian and construction industry practices and regulations.
- Knowledgeable of current technologies and how those can be effectively utilized on projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments simultaneously.
- Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various elemental conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.
- Proficient computer skills -Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) are a must.
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
