We are looking for a Senior Project Manager – Energy & Technical Services at our Walker Environmental Division Office located in Niagara.
Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager will report to the General Manager and will lead the project delivery team within the Energy & Technical Services group based in Niagara Falls, ON. You will be working in collaboration with Health & Safety, Environmental Performance, Sales, Marketing and Operations to deliver projects across a wide variety of business lines, touching a great number of construction disciplines. Our projects include; earthmoving and large scale site works, commercial buildings, processing facilities as well as energy production from landfill gas, including electricity and renewable gas.
Candidate Profile:
This job requires mature leadership skills and a high degree of specialized expertise in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet the established criteria are necessary for successful job performance. The job environment is structured and job expectations are clear. While the pace of the work is faster than average, quality is never compromised. The work requires specialized technical problem solving and ingenuity while working within the approved organizational guidelines. The position encompasses a defined span of control and opportunity for someone who demonstrates trust, exhibits a sense of urgency and assures consistent achievement of quality standards. The work requires making decisions that support company values.
Major (Primary) Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, coach and mentor a team of project managers, coordinators and technicians, including performance and compensation reviews.
- Develop initial project scope, costs and risks as we identify project opportunities across the company.
- Prepare bid packages, oversee the tendering and sub-contractor/trade selection process, as well as procurement of equipment and materials
- Negotiate and review legal contracts in conjunction with the General Manager and internal/external counsel as needed.
- Liaise with municipalities and government regulatory agencies as required and secure permits/approvals.
- Ensure health, safety and environmental policies and procedures are adhered to and that projects are constructed in accordance with all legislated regulations.
- Review the financial performance of the project regularly with Senior Management and deliver detailed cost reports to the General Manager on a monthly basis.
Qualifications
- Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree with demonstrated competency in core areas.
- Direct report management experience
- 10 years of Project Management experience with a large GC firm including process engineering experience.
- Knowledge of Oracle is an asset.
- You must possess a valid Driver’s License in order to travel to various work sites
