Job Description
Purpose:
Under the direction of the Manager of Resources & Planning (MRP), this position provides front line reception and enquiries services for the School of Nursing in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Also provides secretarial and administrative support for the School.
Education:
High school graduation with secretarial training
Experience:
Two (2) years' recent and related work experience such as providing front-line customer service, answering in-person, email and telephone enquiries, providing information on programs. scheduling meetings, word processing, and minute taking, Experience working in an academic environment is an asset.
Skills:
Typing 45 wpm, accuracy essential
Working experience with the following software packages: MS Word (intermediate level). MS Excel (intermediate level) MS Access (basic). Web content management softwareo Windows. E-mail and electronic calendaring software (e.g. Lotus Notes) computerized file management. Experience with SIS (PES and COS) or a similar on-line student recordso. Basic understanding of how to use the Internet. Minute taking.
DEMONSTRATED SKILLS:
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new computer applications is required
Excellent customer service skills, including answering the telephone and dealing with front counter queries is essential
Able to deal courteously and effectively with people. professionalism and strong commitment to student service
Effective active listening
Excellent organizational skills, including ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume and constant interruptions, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
Very good communications skills (oral and written) to obtain and relay information accurately in-person and over the telephone in a clear and concise manner
Demonstrated good judgment and initiative
Attention to details
Tact, discretion and diplomacy essential
Demonstrated effectiveness in working both independently and as a member of a team

Must be punctual and reliable.
