Restaurant Project Manager/Event Manager
This is an exciting new blended role in the restaurant industry with high commission potential with base salary.
Island Spice Flava Restaurant & Lounge is looking for an experienced restaurant manager to head our team and help with projects and events!! The perfect candidate will have excellent communication/ problem solving skills as well as the ability to plan and coordinate day to day operations plus events. The person in this integrative role will be working closely with the owners of Island Spice Flava Restaurant & Lounge and support business growth.
We have been around for 20 years specializing in fine Caribbean foods and have recently opened our second location. This location is sports bar oriented and continues our established brand name serving exceptional service to customers. Responsibilities:
- Supervising day-to-day operations to ensure all standards of quality and service are met during each shift
- Providing orientation and training according to training systems in place to all staff
- Constructing weekly work schedule to meet business demands
- Scheduling events such as outdoor BBQs and client personal events
- Liasoning with festivals in Toronto
- Proactively communicating with the General Manager and all members of the management team and conveying information
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy and respect for customers in all front of the house situations
- Cultivating an appropriate workplace culture
Skills and Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in the restaurant industry
- 3 years experience in project management and executing internal projects
- Smart Serve certificate required
- Food handlers certificate required
- Able to handle stress associated with responding to and solving problems
- First Aid certificate and WHMIS certificate preferred
- Experience with Caribbean cuisine
- Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement as well as using creative approaches to formulate responses
- Quick, efficient and punctual
- Able to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people
- Must be able to work independently
- Able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- East York, ON M4B 3M1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Hospitality: 1 year (preferred)
- Project management: 1 year (preferred)
