We are currently recruiting for a motivated individual to join our team as a Sales & Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate has a passion for developing and implementing sales strategies, customer service and building relationships. This is a full-time position requiring availability to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Position Summary
- Reporting to the General Manager, Business Operations, the Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for the management of membership Sales and successful Marketing campaigns for Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club. This will be executed in accordance with the company’s vision, mission, and values, in a highly professional and efficient manner to meet the service expectations of Club Members and the fiscal expectations of the Business Principal.
- The overall goal of the Sales & Marketing Manager is to increase active memberships for SVAC by leveraging social media and taking advantage of all sales and marketing opportunities to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded.
- The Sales & Marketing Manager will also be active in the day-to-day club operations, and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and staying up to date with all programs, challenges, specials, events, and marketing promotions while providing strong leadership and guidance to the Sales Associates.
Duties & Responsibilities
Sales and Marketing:
- Primary responsibility is the creation and implementation of Sales and Marketing strategies that will increase new membership revenues while simultaneously retaining current membership levels through active retention practices.
- Attend management meetings to establish daily, monthly, and yearly goals. Organize ideas into action. Follow through to meet those targets.
- Financial management of all membership transactions including accounts receivables.
- Drive membership sales through outside sales and business development efforts.
- Lead the creation and implementation of member retention strategies and programs.
- Generate leads through member referrals, formal presentations, public demonstrations, phone calling, advertising, and promotions.
- Follow up on all prospects and invite them to visit or join the Club.
- Set individual and team sales goals and hold the team accountable to achieve those goals.
- Regularly conduct training sessions with the Sales Associates. Create & build strategies through constant training around key sales techniques (role playing, club tours and membership presentation).
- Keep current on industry trends. Obtain and maintain thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, promotional strategies, and sales techniques.
- Proactively promote and recommend all additional services and programs offered at SVAC to our Club Members as per the sales process. These would include Personal training, Fitness Assessments, Nutrition Programs, etc.
- Work with 3rdparty company to manage SVAC’s social media presence including all social media accounts & SVAC mobile app.
- Develop and enhance SVAC’s community presence by participating in a variety of networking/community events (i.e., Trade Show) to develop memberships, including attending Chamber of Commerce lunches.
- A thorough understanding and continuous administration of Club Management Software to utilize it to its full potential (including implementation when needed).
Leadership:
- Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the Club Manager, Fitness to ensure all aspects of the business are effectively managed.
- Support the Club Manager, Fitness with promotions of challenges, specials and events through social media, newsletter, and in-house advertising.
- Work a weekend rotation schedule with the Club Manager, Fitness for a consistent management presence at SVAC.
- Produce regular KPI’s and reports as requested by VP of Finance and GM Business Operations.
- Responsible for assisting with and keeping informed of all changes in operating policies.
- Follow all company Human Resource guidelines relating to Employee and Contractor policies and procedures.
- Manage the front desk to greet and check-in clients and prospects when they enter the Club studio as required. Conduct tours of the facility while establishing a relationship and targeting individual’s needs and wants.
- Resolve any SVAC Member complaints and issues to the best of your ability.
- Maintain general knowledge of the functioning and operation of all cardiovascular and strength training equipment at SVAC, along with information about all group exercise classes offered.
- Gain a sufficient knowledge base for heart monitoring system (MyZone).
- Assist with updating and maintaining current information on our website.
- Contribute to and create opportunities to enhance the cleanliness of the facility. Payroll and scheduling for Sales Associate staff.
- Provide excellent customer service in an enthusiastic, friendly manner with professionalism and flexibility extended to all SVAC Members.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in sales, preferably at an athletic club.
- Prior experience managing people would be an asset.
- Certified CPR/First Aid Training Certificate.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and gym software is an asset

- Ability to work independently and collaborate with other managers.
- Ability to manage and drive all revenue streams from membership sales to retail.

- Ability to direct, lead, coach and develop sales staff.

- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills in all areas (in-person, social media, on the telephone and via email).

- Available to work weekends.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
