Job Description
Summary: Price and sellspipe, valves, flanges and other services to groups or individuals in the marine industry by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Present a professional image at all times to customers, vendors and other team members.
- Maximize gross profit dollars for the branch through quick responses and solving problems.
- Work with customer to determine project requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products, services and solutions.
- Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
- Generate new and repeat sales by providing product, services and technical information in a timely manner.
- Continue to research and learn about all of the company’s products and services.
- Proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability
- Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering other services.
- Accurately process customer transactions (orders, quotes or returns) according to company policy
- Educate customers about terminology, features and benefits of products in order to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and track scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.
- Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and resolve any complaints.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the W&O team (outside sales, expediter, materials, warehouse, finance and other branch locations) to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Communicate to the materials or EP any unexpected increases or decreases in demand for products or request for services.
- Maintain proficiency in using computer, prophet 21 and matrix.
- Attend all weekly, monthly or quarterly meetings regarding sales, product training or Company communication updates.

Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Has the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Can write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Is able to add, subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Can perform operations using units of currency, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software and Contact Management systems.
