The Assistant Clinical Services Manager will provide leadership and support the day-to-day activities in the operating room, post anesthesia, pre-op and post operative patient care. Working in collaboration with the inter-professional team, she/he will apply best practices and effective communication skills in delivering safe patient centered care.
This role will be responsible for clinical practice standards, the orientation program, coaching and mentorship, policies and procedures, staff education and training.
This position will directly report to the Operating Room Clinical Manager and will report to the Director of Nursing on matters related to clinical practice.
This is a regular full-time management position that requires flexibility with regards to hours of work based on operational needs, as part of the Nursing management team, with typical hours of work as 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and alternate Saturdays and on-call.
Qualifications:
- Leadership experience as clinical manager, educator, or charge nurse role.
- Bachelor's Science in Nursing (BScN), required.
- Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 5 years of recent nursing experience in the operating room.
- Master's degree in nursing, business, or any Regulated Health Profession preferred.
- Perioperative nursing certificate from a recognized institution required.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Medical Device Reprocessing Certification preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of ORNAC standards.
- Experience with developing policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within interprofessional team.
- Competency with using technology such as Word, Power Point and Excel.
- Experience with electronic documentation.
- Experience with on-line learning modules in developing learning modules.
- Membership with the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada, and/or RNAO will be asset.
- Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certificate (CPNC) will be an asset.
- Demonstrated effective communication, team building, problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize quality, safety, and risk-based frameworks to facilitate and build the use of critical thinking, priority setting and problem-solving skills across the team.
- Knowledge of collective agreements and working experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and documentation skills
- Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
