SALARY: $40.80- $51.98 per hour

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing July 18, 2023 and closing at 11:59pm on July 25, 2023.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with a multidisciplinary team the Mental Health Clinician provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, group psychotherapy, brief individual and family therapy and discharge planning for children and youth with psychiatric illnesses admitted to the outpatient department at the Child Youth and Family Program. As determined by the resource needs, he/she may also provide care in some or all of the following components of the program: urgent care, inpatient, and intensive ambulatory services with consultation with other health care providers. The successful candidate will work effectively with the members of the inter-disciplinary team in establishing and monitoring processes to improve intervention and continuity of care for patients, and collaborative relationships with other care providers in the Region. The Mental Health Clinician participates in programming and other committees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Psychotherapy or equivalent and eligible for certification /membership in a registered professional association for practitioners in clinical therapy;
- Previous clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders within a hospital based service setting;
- Demonstrated experience in providing individual, group and family therapy to children and youth with psychiatric illnesses;
- Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in best practice guidelines pertaining to the treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders;
- Experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and assessing treating complex trauma is a requirement of this position;
- Demonstrated skill in mental health assessment and crisis management;
- Proven ability to work effectively with other health care providers and community service and school board providers;
- Proven organizational, prioritization and problem-solving abilities;
- Proven to have strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills;
- Must be willing to travel from site to site;
- Must provide successful Criminal Reference Record;
- Must have satisfactory performance record;

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;
- Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
