Job Description
The successful User Interface Software Developer candidate will collaborate with software developers, engineers, marketing, and sales to design new HMI display user interfaces with modern development tools. Their creative talent and passion for modern UX/UI will drive the next generation of Tigercat’s product look, feel and function. The candidate will have an opportunity to learn extensively about forestry operations and to use their creative talent to go beyond customer expectations.
Day shift: 5 x 8 hour shifts; Monday to Friday
Our positions are on site, in office, there are no remote or hybrid opportunities at this time.
Responsibilities may include:
- Spearhead the engineering of the graphical user interface of HMI instrumentation and control displays on Tigercat forestry machines.
- Draft wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, and user flow processes to highlight ideas.
- Program, simulate and test user interfaces using modern development tools and sound software development methods.
- Design modern and efficient animations, touchscreen interactions, elegant screen elements.
- Conduct usability testing, write automated test cases to exercise and validate implementation.
- Test user interface programs within emulator and on real hardware and machines.
- Release high-quality embedded UI applications for a diverse offering of mobile forestry machines.
- Interact and build relationships with customers through interviews and surveys to learn the needs of the forestry business and gather information for a better user experience.
- Work closely with engineers, embedded system developers, sales field representatives, dealers, and machine operators to gather requirements, architect, and design full featured user interfaces.
Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of professional UI/UX design and programming experience.
- Professional Web programming experience using JavaScript, HTML/CSS, C#, etc.
- Familiar with software development life cycles, continuous integration, and testing.
- Experience with formal testing methods and tools for GUI.
- Good understanding of wireframe development and prototyping.
- Experience with UI/UX software tools such as Qt, InVision, Sketch, Figma and Adobe XD.
- Experience with creating layouts for mobile applications and/or small touchscreen displays.
- Professional experience with Adobe Photoshop and similar tools.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently to drive large project to completion.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Post-secondary education that devoted substantial focus on graphic design and user interfaces.
- Demonstration of previous design work and portfolio is required.
