PROGRAM ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRES

PERMANENT FULL TIME 35 HOURS/WEEK

Classification/range: FSW- $41,035 - $59,352 per annum

.Reporting to the Supervisor of Programs and Services, the Program Engagement Coordinator will develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, networks and service providers. Creating linkages to support services and programs, such as collaboration with program facilitators. The Program Engagement Coordinator functions as part of the leadership team, providing mentorship and support to the Family Resource Centre teams

The responsibilities of this position includes providing motivation, encouragement and mentorship to the Family Resource Centre teams. Participation in program development, application and evaluation with the goal of enhancing health, safety, social and economic capacity building in the communities we serve, including promoting relevant harm reduction education and awareness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, networks and service providers to promote relevant health promotion/harm reduction education, awareness and linkages to support services.

● Represent the Agency and its goals/services and to promote positive connections with other organizations and the community at large.

● Participate in program development, application and evaluation; completing the related reporting to grant funders; proposing programs to the Programs and Services Supervisor including benefits, resources required/sourced; implement programs according to policies, standards and guidelines; and participate in the program evaluation as needed.

● Match emerging needs with potential program collaborations; including searching for relatable staff training to support growth in program and service offerings.

● Assistance with consistency in promotional materials, including reviewing and distributing newsletters.

● Take lead in special projects such as service/referral guide, cultural programming guide, community engagement and donation drives.

● Provide increased mentorship and training to new employees' learning experiences.

● Take part in the daily activities and events of the Resource Centres; Observe, mentor and provide leadership to FCDC’s.

● Attend and provide general leadership to various committees, working groups and meetings as needed.

● Participate in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of training material for community staff.

● Confer with the leadership team to resolve problems, coordinate efforts and to exchange information as related to the Resource Centres

● Perform Family and Community Development Coordinator function when all other resources are exhausted for replacement workers.

Other duties as related to the position and as reasonably assigned by the supervisor, or as circumstances dictate, all within the context of Family Dynamics’ Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles as well as a strong and progressive customer service and community service orientation.

● Strong organizational skills; the ability to work effectively in a high volume and time sensitive environment in order to meet schedules and timelines

● Ability to perform performance coaching and creating a motivating/engaging work environment.

● Resourceful and determined in making requested programming work despite challenges such as lack of funding, and available resources.

Education and Experience

● Bachelor Degree in Human Services field

● CPR/First Aid/AED certification is an asset

● Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and/or De-escalating Potentially Violent Situations.

● Experience working with marginalized, vulnerable populations required.

● A minimum of four years’ experience providing direct service in a social services capacity is required.

● A minimum of five years’ experience administering programs including planning, developing, implementing and evaluating program offerings.

● A minimum of two years’ experience supervising, providing leadership and evaluating the work of other is preferred.

Other combinations of education and experience will be given due consideration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

● Extensive knowledge of programs and services across the city that our population would benefit from.

● Knowledge of trauma-informed and strength-based perspectives and application in practice.

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including oral presentation skills, writing skills, listening and observation skills; present ideas and concepts persuasively in speaking before groups, with employees, participants and partners.

● Ability to work collaboratively within a team, with other community and related service organizations to achieve Family Dynamics’ goals and objectives.

● Demonstrated understanding of Attachment Theory, Harm Reduction and Community Development.

● Strong knowledge of issues affecting marginalized communities and relevant vulnerable sector participants.

● Demonstrated ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a team.

● Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings as required by program needs.

● Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within the City of Winnipeg.

● Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.

● Demonstration of cultural competency to work effectively and respectfully with people from different cultures and diverse backgrounds, including consideration of how social, historical contexts and imbalance of power have impacted people’s experiences

● Ability to practice cultural humility; acknowledging oneself as a learner when understanding others’ personal experiences, as well as demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and self-reflection

● Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

● Functions effectively as a team member, demonstrating emotional stability and objectivity when dealing with challenging/changing work environments; works collaboratively to achieve Family Dynamics’ goals and objectives.

● Computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive, Word, Excel, publisher, Canva and social media outlets.

● Finding inclusive ways to integrate new information into programs and resources for families and communities.
